Townhouse Hotel

Hey, greetings from Simone!

As I already mentioned, I went also to the Townhouse Hotel, located in the heart of Cape Town, next to the beautiful Companies Garden and the Castle of Good Hope. This hotel can really be declared as a green hotel – perfectly suitable for leisure guests as well as for business traveller. Like Vineyard Hotel they also have a lot of amazing green and social projects for the community and their staff members.

One really good initiative is that every department in the hotel invents its own projects and campaigns. In September for example the Human Resources department introduced a campaign for the International Literacy Day. Staff read to kids and collected books for a library in the Staff canteen. For October the kitchen introduced the Marine Week where sustainable seafood is served. The only fish that is served is under the sustainable fisheries criteria of SASSI – South African Sustainable Seafood Initiative.

Our Kids of the Cape Fund, is another initiative which really matters. The Non-Profit Organization which is supported by all three hotels - Townhouse Hotel, Vineyard Hotel and Oude Werf Hotel organizes 15 Children projects with a real impact. The projects also involve guests of the Hotels. For each night they spend 5 Rand are added to the bill. The Hotel ads the same amount on top. 100 percent of the income is donated to the projects.

Another example of the big positive impact Townhouse Hotel has especially concerning ecological aspects is Greenpop. A percentage of all conference delegates’ fees go to greening projects, like Greenpop, It prides them in making green living fun, sharing valuable education, monitoring the trees and bringing people together to connect. By now they planted already more than 56.000 trees! The staff also assist with initiatives like beach clean-ups and community gardens.I would say this hotel gives really a huge positive impact to the community and the environment!
