Fair Trade Tourism Tourism Service Provider Register

Fair Trade Tourism registration is a voluntary process, but a “must have” for businesses looking to promote themselves in the responsible tourism market.  The brand association with Fair Trade Tourism is a competitive benefit that signifies a commitment to fair and responsible tourism.  Many travellers want to make positive travel decisions that feel good.  Increasingly they are choosing Fair Trade Tourism certified businesses that offer a meaningful contribution back to the destination and the people who work there.

Tourism service providers (for example “wheels” operators, guides/guide associations, professional conference organisers and carbon off-setting schemes) can apply for inclusion on the Fair Trade Tourism Tourism Service Provider Register.  Inclusion on the Register provides exposure on the Fair Trade Tourism website and makes it possible for tourism service providers to be included in Fair Trade Holidays (a requirement from 2015).

To be included on the Fair Trade Tourism Tourism Service Provider Register, potential applicants need to be able to demonstrate compliance with the criteria listed below:
• Demonstrate effective sustainable management of the company
• Create a fair and transparent working environment for employees
