Procedures for the storage, use, handling and disposal of all chemicals and cleaning products are implemented according to the business's health and safety policy

What does this mean?

  • In point A1.4 more details were given on how the business needs to draw up a Health & Safety policy.  This point refers to the fact that procedures dealing with chemicals and cleaning products needs to also be included in this policy.
  • The first step is for the business to conduct its H&S risk assessment and ensure to include points in there to assess chemicals and cleaning products.
  • Bases on this risk assessment, the relevant action points must be written into the H&S policy.
  • Once the H&S policy is finalised, employees need to be trained on it and specifically for this point on the section regarding handling, storage, use and disposal of the substances identified by the H&S risk assessment.
