The business does not make use of time-limited contracts to avoid employing permanent employees

What does this mean?

  • As a Fair Trade business, you are encouraged to employee people on a permanent basis as much as possible.  In extreme cases where this is not possible, time-limited contracts are acceptable with good reason.
  • In cases where the business employees seasonal staff, there should be a policy in place which states that the same seasonal staff will be re-hired each season as much as possible.
  • Where employees are not permanent, the business should also have a plan in place to try and convert a percentage of these employees into permanent staff members over time.
