The business has a documented monitoring system in place which details the use of all disposable goods and single serve items

What does this mean?

  • Single serve items include the following: sugar, tea and coffee sachets, milk pods, disposable cups, other packaging materials such as bags, shampoo, conditioner, body lotions etc.
  • The business needs to develop a monitoring system which can be used to determine the use of these items and then see how they can be reduced by for example switching to bulk supplies.

What do I do?

  • It is a good idea to link this monitoring system for example to your stock control system so that usage over time can be determined.
  • One way to reduce use could be to buy in bulk items like butter which can be used be guests for example during breakfast as opposed to single serve butters.
  • Another example could be to use jugs of water in conferencing as opposed to single bottled water.
