The business informs guests on how appropriate contributions can be made to benefit local communities

What does this mean?

  • The business needs to first consult with local communities on exactly what their needs are and how contributions from guests could be structured in line with this.
  • Contributions can be either financial and/or non-financial.
  • Contributions can either be made directly to the community or through the business along the channels identified above, or through the Fair Trade Tourism Development Fund.
  • Once all of the above points have been finalised, the business needs to then appropriately communicate this to the guests to stimulate their desire to give such contributions where applicable.

What do I do?

Remember to keep records of any meetings held with the local communities with regards to this as well as on any decisions taken with them.
