The business keeps detailed records of all fees charged to volunteers

What does this mean?

  • In some instances, the volunteers pay fees as part of their participation in the programme, for example for food or accommodation or perhaps use of services such as a local guide or translator.
  • In all instances where fees are paid, they must be recorded transparently by the business and also shared equally between all parties.
  • It is not acceptable for the business to retain disproportionately large percentages of these fees or to distribute them unfairly.  It therefore makes sense to not only record how fees have been distributed, but also to give reasons for the distribution.
