The business sets up a H&S committee appropriate to their size and scope

What does this mean?

  • The OHSA also provides additional regulations for bigger businesses by saying that if a business has 2 or more H&S representatives and therefore employs 100 people or more, it needs to set up a H&S committee.
  • This committee needs to be clear on its roles and responsibilities and should also meet at least every 3 months to discuss issues relating to H&S.  Remember that whenever meetings are held, minutes need to be kept and then placed on file.

What do I do?

A useful guide to H&S committees has also been included in the Resource Centre.
