Over the past few months, FTT has undertaken a thorough strategic review. As a result, the following measures are being put in place to simplify the audit process and add value to our clients:
•FTT certification will now be valid for three years, with only one audit fee payable every three years for an onsite Flo-Cert audit. The annual online audit will no longer be mandatory and the annual audit fee will therefore disappear. This means certification fees will reduce by about 60% over 3 years.
• Audit fees will be invoiced in future by FTT in Rands, replacing the current system of invoicing by Flo-Cert in Euros.
• The auditor guidelines for Small Medium Enterprises will be simplified.
• The criteria for tour operator approval will also be simplified, enabling tour operators to become more easily approved to sell Fair Trade Holidays.
Fair Trade Tourism (FTT) has successfully expanded into Mozambique with the announcement today of four new certified members in Inhambane and Vilanculos.
Tour operator Terra Agua Ceu, eco lodge Dunes de Dovela, boutique resort Bahia Mar and dive specialists Casa Babi/ Odyssea Dive Centre are the latest additions to a portfolio of 64 FTT certified tourism products spread across South Africa, Madagascar and now neighbouring Mozambique.
